I managed to get a game to open with the editor but after editing and encrypting again the console tells me the save game data is corrupted and cannot be loaded.

guess i must be doing something wrong but i could not find any guides/tutorials.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Look at the documentation page.
Make sure you are using the current version.

Again, I know this is necro what ever it's called. But I've been using the DIIIROS Editor for awhile now and I love it! Have no issues, for the most part.

I just realized there is a Diablo 3 Vanilla editor here too. Don't know why or how I missed that. So I downloaded it. I'm still trying to get a better understanding of this website and of all this, so I'm not sure if this is the right page or forum or whatever to be posting this but here it is:
  • I get a popup on my laptop when I try to open my extracted folder that says I forgot to decompress the first layer and to use BSD/HORIZON to decrypt both layers.
    • For who ever reads this, that alone might be enough information to tell you what is wrong and what I need to do, but if not, here is what I've got to work with:
    • I open HORIZON and click through to my games and select Diablo 3.
    • I drag it to the center and click on CONTENTS, then EXTRACT ALL
    • I extract ALL files to a folder path DIABLOIII>Extracted (just like I do for the ROS Editor)
    • After that, normally I just open the editor and open my extracted folder to start working away, at least that's how I do it with the ROS editor.
So what am I missing? And I'm sorry if it's painfully easy or obvious. I downloaded the DIII.SaveEdit_1.2.15.102 which I know says it's in the Beta status. Is that the reason and I just need to either get an older version or wait for the new one, or is there something more?

On the Downloads page under the download link for the version I've downloaded, (phew a lot of downloads there,) it says the recommended download is the same one as the one above it. Both version numbers match up at least.

More Additional Information
I know the page says read the documentation and follow the directions for decrypting. But I'm as slow as a box of rocks when it comes to these kind of things. I looked through the zip file and didn't see any readme documents, and the other application that says item extractor gives me an error when I run it as well. It says something along the lines of Invalid wire-type usually meaning I've over-written something without truncating (?) or setting the length.

I've read through this post:
https://diiiedit.codeplex.com/discussions/636188
Discussing the same issue it seems but I tried some of that to no avail and the other stuff went over my head.

I've tried to think of every bit of information I could include in this, If you need more just ask and I'll give what I can the best that I can.

Right, I read that page but couldn't find what I was missing. I have the ROS editor and I use that to edit my ROS saves. That I never have issues with. But now I'm trying to use the Diablo 3 one to edit my Diablo 3 save (vanilla not ROS) and this is when the error comes. I'm not editing an ROS save with it or anything, just a regular Diablo 3 save.

I have two seperate editors. One that has the ROS guy as the icon, and the other that has I think Diablo as the icon. Both I downloaded from here. When I try editing my Diablo 3 save, I'm using the Diablo 3 Editor:

[ScreenShot](<a href="http://s284.photobucket.com/user/CJ_Campbell/media/Screenshot_zps7sff7iia.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll23/CJ_Campbell/Screenshot_zps7sff7iia.png" border="0" alt="ScreenShot photo Screenshot_zps7sff7iia.png"/></a>)

or

I don't know which one will work, but hopefully one of them does.

Am I not supposed to be using this one or is there one that is for both Vanilla and ROS? I know that's what it says on the home page but when I go to downloads they are separate.

Also, thank you for the speedy reply

P.S.

Send me you d3save stfs package.

And send me your extracted data

May 18, 2015 at 2:36 PM
I'm not entirely sure I know how to send you those. I've compressed them on my desktop into a zip file via winRAR but I don't know how to load it into this or in the chat box when I click Contact____ on your profile. Sorry, I'm still new to all this, and to this website.

after using all the files you supplied and not my own editor I can see just by opening your file in horizon that you are using the same folder to extract all files into mixing up your files completely i would start by deleting you extracted folder putting your stfs packages back on your xbox loading each hero and taking them to at least the first check point and trying again..

I bet what you will notice is 2 of the 3 heroes are FUBAR ill bet what you will also notice is your RoS heroes are in the extracted heroes folder you are working on 2 different games why would you extract both games to the same folder?

I don't know how to help you.. there is nothing wrong with the save editor......

It's not two separate games, one of the saves in the folder is a backup incase the file gets corrupted.

When I open Horizon I click the Extract All button and it extracts the Heroes folder, Acount, Prefs, and Profile dat files all to a folder called Extracted. So when I open the Extracted folder It has one folder (heroes) and 3 files.

This is how I do it for ROS as well and it has always worked, and this is the way it was shown in the tutorial I watched.

I have two separate folders. One Titled DIIIROS which has the Extracted folder in it with all the above, and a separate folder on my desktop called DIABLO3 which has the same set up.

So I know that my ROS and D3 are not in the same folder. And on my D3 save I only have one Hero. I will try deleting everything and extracting each thing individually rather than clicking the extract all and see if that helps. I always get my characters past the Inn before I try using the editor.

Thank you for taking a look at my files and trying to assist me. I guess this is something on my end that I need to fix alone.

No it is 2 separate games... can you take a RoS save and use it in D3? I don't think you can.... Do you have 2 separate disks??? One that says diablo 3 and one that says diablo 3 ROS UEE??? It's 2 different games....... You can not use the internal folder to create a backup file..
(ALL DATA FILES WITHIN ARE READ) anything that is .dat is read from that folder.. the folder you sent me had RoS save information mixed with the D3 STFS package you sent me from D3 but using a RoS account file.. I don't understand what you sent me 13 heroes only 3 that where in that stfs package and 2 that are either corrupt or haven't played through far enough I'll bet there corrupt.. I will bet a 100.00 bill that if you extract all files from that exact stfs package delete the files starting with 1 and e it will load..

I didn't try the rest because they aren't in the stfs package you sent be I actually deleted everything in your extracted folder and created a new one so I could extract out the stfs package with out other files interfering....

Now are you sure you want to argue this with me? you sent me the files. I would not have taken the time and made 2 different programs if the game wasn't different?

My last message never sent. I'm not trying to argue with you so please, no need to be frustrated or argumentative. Right after I sent that I deleted the editor and all the folders and re-installed everything. I got it to load up. I think what I did was when I extracted the save for D3 I clicked on my ROS folder instead and mixed the files, or vise versa.

Like we both said, error on my part. I'm not arguing that the two games are the same or anything. I was just saying that I have two separate folders, one for each game. I Never said they were the same or that they were meant to be together. Them getting mixed was an accident.

I appreciate you taking the time to help those who come across issues with the editors and I am very thankful for all that you have done with the programs. I know it can't always be easy having people spam you with a million and one repeated questions.

edit When I said "It's not two seperate games" I was misunderstanding what you were talking about and I was talking about something completely different. Either way, I didn't know at the time the files were mixed up. I know that they were mixed now in the folders I sent you.

OK so there is a lot to blame here. to start there are 2 different save files so there are 2 different programs that's confusing enough..

Now lets add to it the fact that there are 4 different consoles.. and then lets add to it that 2 of the 4 are on an even different version of the game..

lets add to that that only items that don't have (RoS Only) and (Patch x.x.x) only load in vanilla on that version. then lets change the version cause wait you can export from diablo 3 and from RoS well now i have to deal with 4 times the I did something wrong.. and why is my xbox/ps3 not loading the information from this patch so I can export it. All while the user assumes that all versions of the game are on the same patch number..

And that's the level of confusion that exists...

So yes when I say this is why something is happening. then to have the person asking for help to totally disregard what was just said and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about and yes it happens a lot. I just assume that person is a troll tell them to pound sand and move on a lot of times depending on the moment that I read the message the program and project just dissipates into thin air..

You can see in the lines above I'm not not being rude I'm not arguing anything I'm stating the facts of the level of confusion...
May 20, 2015 at 4:55 PM
Like I said, sounds like you get a lot on your plate at one time. As I said before, I extracted to the wrong folder on accident. My error. I meant no disrespect, nor was I trying to argue with you and tell you that you were wrong in any way so I hope I don't get tossed into that category of people you think are trolls. I admire your ability to handle them as calmly as you do. That would be very frustrating to me as I am a man of little patience. All the more reason to appreciate the awesome work you've done.
